A little more detail

Your estimate,
explained.

See the assumptions behind your result and what could change it.

What assumptions are used?
  • Generation per kW for your zone: 1,150–1,600 kWh per kW per year depending on your zone.
  • Performance factor: A — the real-world discount for inverter losses, heat, dirt and minor shading.
  • Daytime self-consumption: taken from your "who's home during the day" answer — currently a share for "Home some days".
  • Overnight usage share: Part of your total usage happens after daylight — that's the ceiling on how much a battery can offset.
  • Tariffs: editable on this page. The price is your own figure — we don't add or subtract a rebate.

Assumptions current as at 16 July 2026.

Which price should I enter?

Use the out-of-pocket figure on your quote — most quotes already have the rebate taken off. If you've included a battery, make sure its cost is in this total. We don't add or subtract a rebate.

Why does being home during the day matter?

This decides how much of your solar you use directly, versus sell back cheaply. The estimate uses your answer to choose a daytime self-consumption assumption.

What could change my result?

This is an estimate. It's based on your bill and price, plus typical figures for your area — how much solar a system makes, how much you use during the day, and how a battery shifts power to the evening. Your real result depends on your habits, your retailer and your roof. We show the full working so you can check it, and a licensed electrician can confirm it for your home.
