Age requirement
Anyone may browse the website. You must be at least 18 years old to submit information, receive a personalised plan or request installer introductions. Someone under 18 must use these services through a parent or guardian.
Smarter Solar's service
Smarter Solar provides a free online information and installer-introduction service. The wizard uses information you provide about your property, electricity use and preferences, together with available third-party property and solar data, to produce a preliminary plan.
Preliminary information only
The plan is not:
- A site inspection.
- A final system design.
- Electrical or engineering advice.
- Financial advice or a payback calculation.
- An installation quote.
- A guarantee of suitability, production, savings, price or installation outcome.
Imagery and structured third-party data may be incomplete, unavailable or out of date. Existing-array detection, roof pitch, primary roof material and storeys, and manual roof descriptions are provisional. A qualified installer or licensed electrician must inspect and verify the property, electrical requirements, equipment and proposed system before work begins.
The plan conversation's replies are general information written by an AI model. They may be wrong, are not financial or electrical advice, and an installer confirms everything on site.
Your responsibilities
You must provide information that is accurate to the best of your knowledge and correct it when you identify an error. You must have the right to upload any bills, photographs or documents you provide and should not upload unnecessary information about another person.
You must not misuse the website, interfere with its operation, attempt unauthorised access or extract and resell third-party provider data.
Installer introductions
You may keep your plan private or request introductions to up to three installers. Smarter Solar selects participating installers based on service area, project suitability, availability and fair rotation. If fewer suitable installers are available, Smarter Solar may provide fewer introductions than requested.
How we get paid and AWE's role
Participating installers pay Smarter Solar a fee for each lead they receive. This fee does not affect the matching criteria or order. Customers do not pay Smarter Solar to use the website.
AWE Electrical Services Pty Ltd operates Smarter Solar and also provides electrical installation services. Other suitable participating installers are offered leads first. AWE only takes a lead if no other suitable participating installer purchases it. If another installer purchases the lead, AWE does not receive it as an installer, even if fewer installers accept it than you requested.
Your details are only shared for installer introductions with your consent. If you choose AWE to carry out work, AWE earns income from that work under its installation contract with you.
Installer checks
Participating installation businesses must hold:
- An active ABN and GST registration.
- The appropriate electrical contractor licensing for the relevant jurisdiction.
- Current applicable insurance.
The person responsible for the installation must hold the applicable current SAA accreditation. Business history may be considered during vetting, but there is no automatic minimum trading-history requirement.
These checks reflect information available when checked. They do not guarantee future licensing status, conduct, workmanship, pricing or suitability for a particular project.
Installer contracts
Smarter Solar provides the introduction service. For work carried out by another installer, AWE Electrical Services Pty Ltd does not perform, supervise or control that work and is not a party to the installation contract. If you engage AWE to carry out the work, AWE is your installer and is responsible for its work under that contract and applicable law.
Any installer quote, contract, payment, installation, warranty or installation dispute is between you and the installer. Responsibility for carrying out the installation services rests with the installer, subject to applicable law. You should review the installer's credentials, quote, contract, product warranties and proposed work before proceeding.
Communications and marketing
Smarter Solar may email the plan you requested and contact you about administering that request. Marketing is optional and requires a separate choice. You can unsubscribe from Smarter Solar marketing at any time.
Requesting installer introductions permits matched installers to contact you about the requested quotes. It does not give them permission for unrelated marketing.
Availability and changes
Smarter Solar does not guarantee that the website, third-party data or installer introductions will always be available. We may correct errors, maintain the service, update these Terms or discontinue features. Material changes will be identified by updating the date on this page.
Australian Consumer Law
Smarter Solar remains responsible for its own service and representations as required by law. AWE Electrical Services Pty Ltd does not assume another installer's obligations under a separate installation contract. This does not limit AWE's obligations when AWE is itself your installer.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy that cannot legally be excluded, including rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Australian Capital Territory and applicable Commonwealth laws of Australia. Nothing in this section prevents a consumer from using a court, tribunal or remedy available under applicable consumer law.
Google Maps
Smarter Solar includes Google Maps features and content, including in our address search, roof check and satellite images. Use of Google Maps features and content is subject to the then-current versions of the Google Maps End User Additional Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.
Retail electricity plans
The retail electricity plans listed on your plan come from plan data published by the Australian Energy Regulator. The date we fetched that data is shown with the list.
Privacy and contact
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information. Questions about these Terms can be emailed to info@smartersolar.au.
